Rishab Shetty reviews Youth, calls 24-year-old director Ken an asset to cinema

Kannada actor and director Rishab Shetty, amid his busy schedule with multiple projects, recently took time to watch the Tamil film Youth, directed by the young filmmaker Ken Karunaas. In a post on X, Shetty expressed his delight, saying that it had been a long time since he smiled throughout an entire film. He described Youth as a "heartfelt tribute dedicated to all parents."

The Kantara star praised the film's writing and direction, noting its "nuanced depth." He commended the natural performances of the cast, highlighting Suraj Venjaramoodu, Devadarshini, and the ensemble of friends as a joy to watch. Shetty also lauded the technical team, giving special mention to music director GV Prakash, cinematographer Viki, editor Nash, and producers Karuppaiah C Ram and Sulochana Kumar for their faith in the project.

In his concluding remarks, Rishab Shetty expressed his belief that Ken Karunaas will be a significant "asset to the cinema" industry, hoping he will leave a lasting mark.

Youth, which premiered on March 19, follows the journey of Praveen, played by Ken Karunaas, as he navigates the challenges of high school romance while striving to improve his academic performance for his parents' sake. The film features Anishma Anilkumar, Meenakshi Dinesh, and Priyanshi Yadav as the female leads, with Abison Thevarasa and Karen Vincent in supporting roles, alongside Devadarshini and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Receiving positive reviews, Youth achieved a box office collection exceeding Rs 82 crore and is currently available for streaming on Netflix. Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty, who last appeared in Kantara: Chapter 1, is gearing up for his next project, Jai Hanuman, directed by Prasanth Varma.

He is also set to portray the iconic Indian ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, in Sandeep Singh's upcoming historical drama, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which is scheduled for a global release on January 21, 2027.
