Actor Sapthami Gowda is reportedly set to star opposite Sriimurali in the upcoming period action drama Ugrayudham, which is currently under production. While an official confirmation is still awaited, industry sources suggest that Sapthami has been roped in as the female lead in the film.

Directed by debutant Puneeth Rudranag, Ugrayudham is being produced by Jayaram Devasamudra under the Suram Movies banner. The film is mounted on a large scale and is said to blend historical elements with fictional storytelling, set around 500 years ago.

This marks the first on-screen collaboration between Sapthami Gowda and Sriimurali. The latter has described Ugrayudham as a long-cherished dream project and is reportedly undergoing a significant transformation for his role, adopting a new look that aligns with the film’s historical setting. Early reports indicate that Sapthami will be seen in a royal role, although further details about her character remain under wraps.

Sapthami made her debut with director Suri’s Popcorn Monkey Tiger and rose to prominence with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, backed by Hombale Films. Since then, the actor has expanded her filmography across languages, taking up projects in Hindi and Telugu as well.

Following her recent outing in The Rise of Ashoka, Ugrayudham is expected to be a significant addition to her growing body of work. The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Sanketh (Mys) and art director Amar, with VFX handled by Nirmal Kumar, known for his work on Salaar.

Apart from Ugrayudham, Sapthami is also part of another period film, Halagali, directed by Sukesh Nayak and co-starring Dhananjay, which is currently being shot. Ugrayudham is set as one of the highly anticipated Kannada films of 2026.
