Happy that Vijay sir won, he's still the same person: Actor Sivakarthikeyan
Actor Sivakarthikeyan said he was happy to see Vijay become Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and recalled speaking to him after his victory. He said Vijay sounded calm and expressed confidence that he would handle the new role well.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan said he was happy that someone from the film industry had become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, referring to actor-turned-politician Vijay. Speaking while leaving the puja ceremony of the film Seyon, Sivakarthikeyan said he was pleased with Vijay’s rise to the state’s top political post.
He said he had spoken to Vijay after his election victory and found him unchanged in his manner. “I am happy that a person from our film industry has become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. I am very happy with that. When Vijay sir won [the election], I spoke to him. He had the same calmness in his tone. He asked me how I was doing and received wishes from me. Whatever decision he takes, he’d do it well. I hope this is also like that,” he said.
Sivakarthikeyan had earlier appeared in a cameo in Vijay’s GOAT and had said that nobody could replace the Ghilli actor. In the film, Vijay hands over a thuppakki, or pistol, to Sivakarthikeyan, a moment [cameo role] that was seen as symbolising the passing of the baton.
Vijay made his political debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections through his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The party emerged as the single-largest force by securing 108 votes and went on to form the government with the support of allies. Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, marking a swift move from cinema to politics.
Sivakarthikeyan’s remarks, made after the Seyon puja, underlined both his happiness over Vijay’s victory and his view that Vijay would handle his new responsibility well.
