On the occasion of Vijay Deverakonda’s birthday, the makers of Ranabaali unveiled a special poster and a making glimpse from the film, drawing strong reactions online. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the pan-Indian historical action drama also stars Rashmika Mandanna in a key role.
The newly released visuals showcase Vijay Deverakonda in an intense warrior avatar, with the makers describing him as a “Stallion” while promising audiences “peak cinema.” Director Rahul Sankrityan also penned a heartfelt note for Vijay that read, “To my dearest brother in the world of CINEMA, who has been my co-traveller in half of my journey in filmmaking. The man with the sweetest smile, calmest demeanour, untamed spirit and unflinching focus. A breed of its own kind. Vijay, you are rare. May you live long.”
Released on May 10, the making video focuses on the actor’s transformation for the role and offers an early look at the scale of the film. The glimpse captures Vijay undergoing horse-riding training, intense physical preparation and action rehearsals ahead of filming major battle sequences.
In several visuals, the actor is seen dressed in rugged warrior costumes while training alongside massive stallion horses. One of the standout moments in the clip shows him riding at high speed as part of preparations for the film’s action scenes. “The only reason anyone would do this is because of cinema. When you see it on screen, it feels good,” Vijay says in the video.
Set during the British colonial period between 1854 and 1878, Ranabaali is inspired by lesser-known real-life historical events from India’s past. Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, the wife of Vijay’s warrior character. The film also marks another on-screen reunion for the popular pair after their earlier collaborations.
The song O Mere Saajan has already added to the buzz surrounding the project. The track has gained popularity online, with many viewers praising the chemistry between the lead pair. The film also features Arnold Vosloo in an important role.
With its period backdrop, large-scale action sequences and Vijay Deverakonda’s physical transformation, Ranabaali has already emerged as one of the most-anticipated releases of 2026. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
