Who Will Get The Covid-19 Vaccine First in India?

People world over are anxiously waiting for a safe and effective Covid-19 vaccine to get regulatory approval so that it can be used to save people from the deadly virus. There’s been a buzz around the Covid-19 vaccine in India off late. Will it be free-of-cost or will people have to buy it from their own pocket? Dr VK Paul, member Niti Aayog said that the government has formulated a plan to ensure smooth distribution and delivery of the vaccine. In the initial stages of vaccine manufacturing, surely the quantity of doses will not be sufficient to immunise the entire world or the entire country. In such a case, prioritisation has to be done as to who would get the vaccine first and work in this direction is progressing. As far as who gets it first, it is a dynamic situation that would depend on many factors. The principles of prioritisation are now being understood and there is a broad consensus globally and within our group. The second goal after protecting the health and pandemic control system is to control the pandemic and extinguish it by creating enough herd immunity by using the vaccine approach. Immediately linked to this is the intent of protecting those who have a very risk of mortality (the elderly and those with comorbidity).

Trump and the first lady had bent down behind the dais before being hustled out by US Secret Service officers. Other attendees also ducked for safety as the gunshots rang out.
