India Today's reality check after Ryan school murder: How safe is your child at school?

The tragic and shocking murder of 7-year-old Pradyuman at Ryan International School in Gurgaon has proved that children cannot be presumed to be safe within the school premises.

Least of all, within the campus of Ryan International School, where this case is the second instance of a child dying in 2 years.

It is shocking to mention that CCTV cameras inside the school were either not installed or not working and there were no security guards present. With no one to prevent strangers from walking freely inside classrooms and toilets and liquor shops operating barely a stone's throw from school, the shocking safety risk has been too glaring to be overlooked by anyone.

The Supreme Court has pulled up the Manohar Lal Khattar government over this issue. A three-member probe panel formed by the Haryana government has submitted its report, confirming the lapses mentioned above.
