Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman said that David Warner should definitely be part of the 2019 ICC World Cup squad for Australia.
Laxman lauded Warner's mettle and resolve, having seen Warner from up close and been with him in the process of making his way back to cricket. Laxman said the three implicated in the ball-tampering scandal - David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft - showed character. He also went onto add that Warner would be a real asset for Australia in the 2019 ICC World Cup.
"It boils down to your work ethics and also the mindset. We talk a lot about the mindset and the preparation and that is more to do with skilful practise where you focusing on your batting or your technique. It is also a mental preparation because it is tough for all three of them, as to how they can still be possible with whatever has happened and suddenly they are not allowed to play for one year. I think we were positive and prepared so that we can get better," Laxman said.
"No surprise as he has always been a hard-working player works a lot on his fitness and because of that, the rhythm that possibly could have been missing didn't go anywhere. He is very happy with the way he is hitting the cricket ball and more impotently that you can see in the body language and see in the eyes that he is determined to win each and every match and determined to do well. When you miss something for a period of 12 months, you will be eagerly waiting to go out to do well whenever you get an opportunity. Australia will be lucky to have him in the World Cup because he will be looking forward to contributing and winning the World Cup for Australia," Laxman added.
