The journey of Marthin at the Thailand Open 2026 has been an inspirational one. He and Carnando had split mid-2024 before Marthin suffered a left knee cartilage injury at the BWF Sudirman Cup finals last May.
His layoff ended at the Thailand Open this week and he and Carnando are yet to drop a game en route to the final.
"I'm definitely thrilled to be able to reach the final with Daniel again," said Carnando to BWF after the win on Saturday. "My appreciation and respect for him for making it straight to the final in his first tournament after a year away. That is truly impressive."
"Today, the key to our victory was playing more focused, not letting our guard down, and constantly anticipating our opponent's game patterns," said Marthin. "We kept trying to play the game we had prepared."

Following their semi-final win, Chirag Shetty opened up on how the Thomas Cup bronze medal has boosted their confidence at the Thailand Open 2026. He said that after a slow start to the year, the Thomas Cup achievement helped them find all the right answers to their issues.
"We didn't start the year well. We were also not good mentally, because we didn't start well. And as players, we are very, very driven, and for us to lose early, it does bother us quite a bit, and we really wanted some answers, and finally the bronze at the Thomas Cup really boosted our confidence," said Shetty after the win on Saturday.
