PSL suffers fresh setback as Nick Knight joins IPL 2026 commentary panel
The PSL suffered another blow ahead of IPL 2026, with commentator Nick Knight joining the IPL panel after initially being named in the Pakistan Super League broadcast team.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has suffered another setback ahead of the IPL 2026 season, with Nick Knight now joining the Indian league’s commentary panel.
Knight had initially been named in the PSL 2026 broadcast team alongside Carlos Brathwaite, Lisa Sthalekar, JP Duminy, Dominic Cork, Mark Butcher, Martin Guptill, Greg Blewett and Athar Ali Khan, as well as former Pakistan cricketers Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja, Aamer Sohail, Urooj Mumtaz and Bazid Khan.
However, on Friday, March 27, Star Sports unveiled its commentary panel for IPL 2026, with Knight featuring alongside the likes of Ian Bishop, Ravi Shastri, Harsha Bhogle, Daren Ganga, Danny Morrison and others.

The development comes just a day after the PSL 2026 season got underway, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars beating Hyderabad Kingsmen by 69 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The IPL, meanwhile, begins on March 28, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bengaluru.
Players ditch PSL for IPL
The PSL has been hit by a fresh wave of exits in 2026, with multiple overseas players leaving the tournament to join the IPL as replacement signings. The overlap between the two leagues for a second straight year has once again exposed the IPL’s pull over rival T20 competitions.
So far, at least three confirmed players have left the PSL for the IPL - Blessing Muzarabani, Dasun Shanaka and Spencer Johnson. Muzarabani, who was set to play for Islamabad United, moved to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.
Shanaka pulled out of the Lahore Qalandars setup to join Rajasthan Royals (RR) in place of the injured Sam Curran. Johnson was set to play for the Islamabad United, but will now play for the Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Nathan Ellis.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi voiced his frustration over players choosing the IPL after being picked in the PSL auction. With the PSL clashing with the IPL for the second straight year, Naqvi said the scheduling overlap was not the main concern, but warned that any player violating contractual commitments would face action.
