Liverpool FC have announced plans for a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield in honour of late forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who tragically died in a car accident in Spain last year.

Named the “Forever 20” sculpture, the memorial will be installed on 97 Avenue outside Anfield, the site that became a place of remembrance for thousands of supporters in the aftermath of the brothers’ deaths in July 2025.

The sculpture’s design incorporates a heart inspired by Jota’s trademark goal celebration and includes lyrics from the Liverpool fan chant, "He will take us to victory, oh, his name is Diogo."

In a statement released on the club’s official website, Liverpool said the tribute would “celebrate their lives, their bond, and the love and respect felt by family, teammates, and supporters across the world.”

The club added that the memorial would “serve as a permanent symbol of love, unity and remembrance, and a place where everyone can reflect, remember and pay their respects.”

Mounted on a stone plinth, the sculpture has been designed to reveal Jota’s retired No. 20 from one angle and Silva’s No. 30 from another. Silva wore the number during his time with Portuguese second-tier side FC Penafiel.

The brothers lost their lives on July 3, 2025, after the Lamborghini they were travelling in veered off the A-52 motorway near Zamora in Spain and burst into flames.

Jota was 28 at the time of his death and had played a major role in Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning campaign in the 2024-25 season. The Portugal international joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and went on to score 65 goals in 182 appearances across all competitions during his five seasons at Anfield.

Silva was 25 when he passed away in the accident.

The deaths of the two brothers triggered an outpouring of grief across the football world, with tributes arriving from clubs, players and supporters across Europe and beyond. Liverpool are yet to announce a date for the official unveiling of the memorial sculpture.
