Anita Hassanandani to Karan Tacker: 7 TV celebs who shared their horrifying #MeToo stories

Casting couch, sexual harassment and molestation cases are not restricted to any one industry or gender. Be it the fashion industry, mainstream cinema --Bollywood, Hollywood--or the telly world, cases of sexual harassment crop up every now and then. Here are some TV celebrities who have come out in the open and shared their stories:

Ishqbaaz actress Shrenu Parikh is the latest actress to join the #MeToo Movement and her story gave us all goosebumps. She had revealed on Instagram, as to how she was molested when she was only 6 years old, that too in a moving bus. "As a kid I used to spend my vacations at my grandparents' town! Those days we travelled in a local bus...one uncle offered to nanu that "il make her sit on my lap". I could sense something's wrong but I went all numb and thought it's ok for him to hold me like that! I could see my naanu standing a little away from me but couldn't tell him anything not then not later!" We salute you Shrenu for showing so much courage.

Naagin 3 actress Anita Hassanandani, who made her debut in 2001 with Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, had spoken about how the sexual predators in her initial days in TV industry troubled her. She had said, "Yes, it happened to me as well. But I guess, you have to handle yourself correctly and get out of that situation. The industry is such. But I feel that today, [the situation] is way better, as your work speaks more. In our days, it was worse. That's what I feel, but I could be wrong." Bravo Anita!

Few months back, Television actor Karan Tacker had revealed a shocking casting couch experience. He had said that it was the same man who had made advances to Ranveer Singh. He told HT, "I saw this interview of Ranveer, and realised that it was the same guy; a casting director/coordinator agent who said, 'I'll ask you a question, whether you will work hard or smart'. Funny part is that he's still a part of the industry, still casting, still doing things."

Uttaran actress Tina Datta was molested on a flight, where a co-passenger tried to touch her inappropriately. She was on a flight from Mumbai to Rajkot when a passenger sitting just behind her tried to touch her from the side of the seat. She complained about it to the cabin crew members and demanded for the man to be deported. They didn't take strict action and just changed the seat of the offender. Tina was not happy with it and complained about it to the captain, who was of no help either. She didn't keep quiet but spoke up on the matter and also narrated the entire incident on Facebook and expressed her disgust.

On Rajeev Khandelwal's talk show JuzzBaatt, Karanvir Bohra had shared his experience with his fans. He recalled that he had gone to meet a casting director of a big production house (didn't name) who asked him what he can do for his role. He didn't pay much heed to what he said, and went on to say that I can prepare for the role in the best way possible. But when the casting director asked him again, that is when he realised what he meant. And the actor took no time to swiftly leave the place.

Razia Sultan actress Pankhuri Awasthy recently opened up about an incident when she slapped a guy who tried to touch her in a wrong manner. She is proud to have stood up against harassment. She also said that earlier, she didn't have the courage to stand up against such things but now she doesn't keep quiet.

Actress Mona Wasu, who has been a part of shows like Yudh and Miilee, was sexually harassed by an unknown man while she was travelling on a jetty. She was going back home from Madh island when a man touched her wrongly. The actress didn't keep mum about the incident but showed courage and fought back. She even called the police and got the man arrested.
