Dilip Ghosh

Dilip Ghosh is one of the key faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, known more for his ground work than polish. His journey started in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, where he worked as a pracharak for years before moving into active politics.

He joined the BJP’s Bengal unit in 2014 and quickly rose to become its state president in 2015. At a time when the party had limited presence in the state, Ghosh focused on building it from the ground up. His style was simple and direct, often speaking in a way that connected with ordinary voters.

His first major electoral win came in 2016 from Kharagpur Sadar, a seat long held by the Congress. In 2019, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Medinipur as the BJP made big gains in Bengal.

Ghosh has often been in the news for his outspoken remarks. But that same blunt approach has also helped him build a loyal base among party workers.

Now, he is back in the Assembly race from Kharagpur Sadar in the 2026 elections. For the BJP, Ghosh remains an important leader in West Bengal — someone who knows the organisation well and is comfortable taking the fight directly to his rivals.
