Ilaiyaraaja

Ilaiyaraaja is one of India's most celebrated music composers, known for revolutionising film music with his unique blend of Indian classical, folk and Western orchestral elements. With a career spanning over four decades, he has composed music for more than 1,000 films across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi cinema. Popularly known as "Isaignani" (musical genius), Ilaiyaraaja has created thousands of songs that continue to resonate across generations. His innovative use of orchestration and background scores transformed Indian film music. In 2022, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, recognising his immense contribution to the arts.
