Ready to resign if Jagan Mohan Reddy is Tamil Nadu's CM: Puducherry minister Malladi Krishna Rao
Speaking at an event, Rao a Congress leader, said, the people of Tamil Nadu need a Chief Minister like YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
Malladi Krishna Rao’s political journey is rooted in one place -- Yanam. Unlike many leaders who move across constituencies, he has built his career steadily in this small region of Puducherry, staying closely connected with local voters.
At 62, Krishna Rao is among the most familiar political faces in Yanam. He has been elected MLA multiple times since 1996, winning as an Independent and later on a party ticket, and remains a strong contender again in the 2026 elections as a candidate of the All India N.R. Congress.
His politics has been shaped by both governance and social work. He served as a minister in the Puducherry government, handling key departments including revenue, tourism and fisheries. At the same time, he has been involved in local welfare efforts — from setting up an old age home to supporting eye donation and running an orphanage in Yanam.
Krishna Rao’s strength lies in his direct connection with people. He is known more as a local leader than a high-profile politician. His affidavit reflects a stable financial position, with assets of over Rs 8 crore, some liabilities, and no criminal cases.
As he returns to the electoral field in 2026, Krishna Rao represents continuity in Yanam politics -- a leader who has remained anchored to his constituency.

During an inspection visit to the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College in Puducherry on Saturday, the Health Minister, Malladi Krishna Rao, cleaned a toilet in a coronavirus ward.
Health Minister of Puducherry Malladi Krishna Rao told the ruling and opposition parties, which had wanted the Chief Minister's insurance scheme like the one in neighbouring Tamil Nadu that Ayushman Bharat would be introduced.
