According to a report by the New York Post, the incident involved cadets from the Finnish Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. The trainees were conducting flight exercises from Jyvaskyla, located roughly 170 miles north of Helsinki, at around 7.30 am local time on April 13.
During the drill, at least four aircraft reportedly deviated from their assigned flight patterns to trace the outline of two large phallic shapes in the sky. The unusual manoeuvre was captured in real time on Flightradar24, where flight paths are publicly visible. Screenshots of the patterns quickly circulated online, turning the incident into a viral talking point.
In addition to the crude drawings, the pilots also created two heart shapes during the same session, a detail that added to the bizarre nature of the episode.
The Finnish Air Force later confirmed to local media that the aircraft involved were operated by trainees undergoing reserve officer flight training. Officials strongly condemned the behaviour, stating that such actions were inappropriate and did not align with the discipline expected from military personnel.
