A man was confronted by a fellow passenger on the Hyderabad Metro after he was seen occupying multiple seats and resting his shoes on the coach seating during a busy morning commute.

The incident was shared on X by user Aparajite, who posted a video of the exchange and criticised what was described as a lack of civic sense on public transport.

In the video, the man could be seen lounging across the metro seats in an unusual manner. One of his feet, still wearing shoes, was propped up against the backrest of the seats, while his other leg stretched across the seating area. Leaning sideways against the wall of the coach, he appeared unconcerned by the attention his posture was drawing.

The situation escalated when another passenger approached him and objected to the way he was sitting.

The passenger pointed out that placing shoes on the seats was not appropriate and repeatedly tried to explain that such behaviour was disrespectful to fellow commuters using the public transport system.

However, the man appeared dismissive of the criticism. In the video, he could be heard repeatedly insisting that he was “just sitting” and questioning what the issue was, even as the other passenger continued to challenge his actions.

Sharing the clip, Aparajite wrote, “This video was captured today in Hyderabad Metro during a morning office commute. A man was seen sitting awkwardly with his foot resting on the seat - a clear lack of civic sense and respect for public property. What is happening to people nowadays?”

The video generated discussion online, with many users focusing on etiquette and behaviour in public spaces.

Several commenters argued that repeated violations of public transport rules should attract stricter consequences, indirectly suggesting that warnings alone were often not enough to discourage such behaviour.

Others called for stronger penalties, with some users saying temporary bans from metro services could serve as a deterrent for people who repeatedly disregard basic public norms.

Many reactions also centred on the broader issue of civic sense, with commenters indirectly expressing frustration over what they viewed as entitled behaviour in shared public spaces and questioning why some passengers treated public transport as though it were a private living room.
