It appears the wrong people may have hit the follow button. A YouTuber from Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri lost jewellery and cash worth lakhs after thieves targeted her home, with investigators probing whether her social media posts showcasing wealth played a role in the crime.

The incident took place at the residence of Rachna Gurjar, a resident of Mohni village in Shivpuri. According to reports, the thieves carefully planned their entry into the house.

CCTV footage from the property, which has since surfaced, shows the accused arriving with the help of a ladder. After reaching the premises, they allegedly cut wires fixed to the wall before making their way inside.

The footage further reveals the lengths the burglars went to avoid detection. Before carrying out the theft, they reportedly used a stick to tilt the CCTV camera upwards, reducing the chances of their faces being clearly captured.

Once inside, the intruders allegedly broke open a cupboard and searched through the house.

By the time they left, gold and silver jewellery along with cash had reportedly been stolen. Visuals from the house show belongings scattered across rooms, highlighting the extent of the break-in.

The incident has drawn attention because of claims that the victim frequently shared photographs on social media featuring jewellery, cash and luxury vehicles. While investigators are examining all possible angles, the theft has reignited discussions about how publicly displaying expensive possessions online can sometimes attract unwanted attention.

Following a complaint from the family, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials are currently analysing the CCTV footage and gathering evidence to identify those involved in the burglary.

Speaking on the matter, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Mool said that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to trace the accused. Police are also investigating whether the suspects specifically targeted the house after monitoring social media activity.

As the search for the culprits continues, the incident serves as a stark reminder of how information shared online can sometimes travel far beyond its intended audience, with consequences that can extend into real life.
