Following the incident, the mother-in-law approached the local police station and lodged a complaint, seeking action in the matter. Police have said an investigation is currently underway.

The complainant, identified as Balwinder Kaur, claimed that her son, Palwinder Singh, married Karmveer Kaur around four years ago and claimed that while relations were initially cordial, tensions in the household had increased over time.

According to Kaur, her daughter-in-law had begun creating disputes at home and would occasionally leave for her parents' house without informing the family.

She further claimed that around three months ago, the daughter-in-law had gone to her maternal home in Ferozepur and later returned following intervention by the local panchayat.

The mother-in-law also claimed that tensions resumed after her return and claimed that on the day of the incident, her daughter-in-law was preparing to leave without informing the family. According to her complaint, an argument began after family members asked that the granddaughter stay behind.

Kaur further accused her daughter-in-law of threatening to implicate the family in a false case and issuing threats to kill her. She has requested authorities to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

Police are now examining the complaint and the CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation.
