Woman discovers her Chennai auto driver has spoken at TEDx 7 times. There's more
A Chennai woman's Instagram post recounted an unusual share-auto ride with driver Annadurai. The encounter drew attention after she revealed his TEDx talks, corporate lectures and refusal to take her fare.

An auto ride in Chennai turned into an unforgettable lesson on passion and purpose for one woman after she discovered that her driver was not just an auto-rickshaw operator, but also a sought-after speaker who has delivered multiple TEDx talks and addressed audiences at global companies.
The story, shared by Instagram user Dharani, talks about an encounter with auto driver Annadurai during a share-auto ride in Chennai's Sholinganallur.
According to the woman, the experience felt unusual from the moment she stepped into the vehicle.
"The moment I entered the auto, I was practically amazed at what I saw," she wrote.
Instead of a typical auto-rickshaw, she found what appeared to be a carefully curated mobile experience for passengers. The vehicle was stocked with newspapers and magazines such as Frontline, Femina and Outlook, along with UPSC preparation material. Passengers also had access to two functioning iPads, complimentary chocolates, umbrellas, a mini cooler, a flask of coffee and free Wi-Fi.
A sign inside the auto offered free rides to nurses, teachers, doctors and sanitation workers.
The driver himself left an equally strong impression.
"Anna speaks seven languages, laughs loudly and does cute little dances while taking his savaari," she wrote, describing his cheerful personality and infectious energy.
The biggest surprise, however, came near the end of the journey. Another passenger recognised Annadurai and revealed that she had once invited him to her college as a chief guest.
Curious, the woman struck up a conversation and soon discovered that the auto driver was a seven-time TEDx speaker who had also delivered talks at companies such as Google and Microsoft.
"It took me a few minutes of conversation to figure out that anna was a seven-time TEDx speaker," she recalled.
The encounter became even more memorable when Annadurai learned that she worked as both a teacher and a doctor. Staying true to the sign displayed in his vehicle, he reportedly refused to accept any fare from her.

Reflecting on the experience, the woman said the driver completely changed her perspective on work.
"While we all complain about our jobs, anna taught me how you can be successful in anything that you do if you love it enough, give your hundred percent even on your bad days and work as an honest man."
The post quickly resonated with social media users. Many praised Annadurai for transforming a simple commute into an experience, while others who had met him before shared similar stories, describing him as a reminder that dignity, passion and excellence are never defined by a job title.
