Andhra Pradesh: Bus falls into river near Vijayawada, at least 6 dead

At least six people were killed and 20 injured after a bus travelling from Bhubaneswar to Hyderabad fell into a river near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh early today. The accident took place at National Highway 65 in Krishna district.

All the injured have been shifted to Nandigama Government Hospital. Condition of 10 is stated to be critical.

According to reports, the bus, which had to cover nearly 1000 km, made a stop in Vijayawada where a new driver took the steering wheel.

The driver failed to negotiate a bridge divider and over ran it.  The vehicle plunged into the river.
