Officials said the move aims to address technical or procedural challenges that may have prevented students from availing themselves of financial assistance earlier.

REAPPLY AND RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

The Social Welfare Department will allow students who missed previous deadlines to submit applications and receive benefits.

Last year, a similar drive provided scholarships and fee reimbursements amounting to Rs 81.12 crore to 53,041 students across the state. Of this, Rs 30.65 crore went to 25,395 SC students, while Rs 50.47 crore was granted to 27,646 students from the general category.

Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive education. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is committed to ensuring equal opportunities in education,” he said.

He added that the initiative ensures that “every needy student has access to education and no student has to drop out due to financial reasons.”

PROMOTING SOCIAL INCLUSION AND EMPOWERMENT

Experts say that scholarship schemes like these play a crucial role in improving enrolment and retention rates in schools and colleges, especially for socially and economically marginalised communities.

By opening the portal again, the government hopes to mitigate educational disparities and empower youth to pursue higher education without financial barriers.

The initiative is expected to help thousands of students continue their studies and secure a more stable future. Beyond immediate financial support, access to scholarships is linked to greater academic performance, skill development, and employability in the long term.

Uttar Pradesh has steadily expanded its educational welfare schemes under the Yogi administration, with a focus on broad social inclusion.

Scholarships and fee reimbursements are part of a larger strategy to reduce dropout rates, support girl students, and assist marginalised communities.

The state has consistently ranked among India’s top performers in implementing scholarship schemes efficiently, leveraging digital portals to streamline application and disbursement processes.
