The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to form its first government in West Bengal, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for the ninth of May at the Brigade Parade Ground. The legislative party meeting will take place on the eighth of May at the Vishwa Bangla Centre to decide the new chief minister. The central leadership has appointed the Union Home Minister as an observer to oversee the selection process for the top post. Several prominent state party leaders are currently being considered for the chief ministerial position. Meanwhile, the transition of power faces a unique hurdle as the outgoing chief minister has refused to resign, alleging that the mandate was stolen by the opposition.
