Chidambaram on why Congress is backing Vijay, INDIA bloc's future and more

In an exclusive interview with India Today, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram talked about the rise of Vijay and his party TVK in Tamil Nadu, why Congress is backing TVK and the future of the INDIA bloc after a DMK leader said it's over.

On why the Congress is backing TVK, Chidambaram said, "First, no party in Tamil Nadu wants another election. Second, no political party in the state wants President’s Rule, which would effectively mean BJP rule. To avoid these two contingencies, we had to form a government — and the only one in a position to do so was Mr. Vijay:"

While on INDIA bloc's future, he said, "I think the India bloc can be revived, can be strengthened, can be expanded."
