Mamata Banerjee refuses to resign, says haven't lost election

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has refused to accept the West Bengal assembly election results after the Bharatiya Janata Party secured two hundred and seven out of two hundred and ninety-four seats. In a press conference, Banerjee alleged that the Election Commission and the central government stole over a hundred seats from her party. Defying constitutional protocol, she declared she would not visit the Raj Bhavan to tender her resignation as the caretaker Chief Minister. Banerjee also accused the Central Reserve Police Force of acting as the BJP's 'goon bahini' and alleged that BJP workers are threatening TMC cadre and women with post-poll violence. Furthermore, Banerjee asserted that the INDIA bloc remains united, stating she has held discussions with leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Arvind Kejriwal to formulate a joint political strategy. Her refusal to resign contrasts with Tamil Nadu, where M.K. Stalin submitted his resignation following his electoral defeat.
