Tamil Nadu polls: Vijay's Perambur rally denied permission day before event

Actor-politician Vijay's rally in Perambur, scheduled for tomorrow, has been denied permission by authorities citing lack of space and protocol violations. TVK sources confirm that the party had requested permission for approximately 3,000 people at the venue. Officials stated the chosen location is too constricted to accommodate the expected crowds, referencing the backdrop of a stampede at a previous rally in Karur where 41 people died. Chennai Corporation Commissioner Kumar Gurubaran stated that Vijay failed to follow proper protocol, noting that applications must be submitted through the Suvidha portal, not 24 hours prior to the event.
