BJP leader and Union minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday said that the Congress-led government in Chhattisgarh failed to keep their promises during their tenure. Commenting on the BJP's lead in the state as counting continued, Thakur said that everyone in the state knew that they could indulge in corruption and then pay Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, referring to it as the "Bhupe campaign" - a play on the online payment service PhonePe and Bhupesh Baghel's name.
Commenting on the alleged link between Bhupesh Baghel and the Mahadev betting app scam, Anurag Thakur said, "Mahadev ka shraap, Congress saaf" meaning that it was because of Lord Mahadev or Lord Shiva's curse that led to the ruling Congress losing in the Chhattisgarh elections.
