Platform and release date

According to OTT Trackers, Dacoit is likely to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on May 8 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The Hindi version is expected to arrive on the platform a few days later, after the film gains viewership in the other languages. Earlier reports had suggested that Netflix had acquired the digital rights. However, Amazon Prime Video has now reportedly clinched the rights.

The film follows an angry convict seeking revenge against his former girlfriend after feeling betrayed by her. It was originally scheduled to release on March 19, but its theatrical release was pushed to April 10 to avoid competition with Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Since then, it has had a modest run.

What Sesh said about the film

Speaking to India Today after the release, Sesh said, "Love and revenge are intertwined. Dil toota isliye toh revenge chahiye (heartbreak leads to revenge). They came together because they were always together." He also said that he aimed to make the film feel emotionally honest for the ordinary viewer walking into a theatre.

Sesh, who also co-wrote the film with Deo, described their collaboration as close and sometimes combative. "He's my best friend, so when we agree we agree, and when we disagree we fight like brothers," he said. He added that their exchanges on set often felt like banter between two brothers, with Deo speaking in his "very UP Bhojpuri Hindi" while Sesh thought in Telugu.

The actor also recalled how Kashyap joined the film. Speaking about meeting him at Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala's wedding, Sesh said, "You know how it is at a wedding — rasmein hain (there are rituals). You have a couple of hours of just taking in the festivities and maybe eating a little bit... the selfish movie guy in me pitched him the film."

For viewers waiting to watch Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha at home, the film now appears to have a likely streaming platform and timeline, though the makers have not yet issued an official announcement.
