Euphoria Season 3 is set to premiere this Sunday, April 12, 2026, marking the show's return after a four-year break. The new season introduces a significant shift, moving the narrative beyond the high school setting of East Highland. Actor Zendaya recalled her most difficult scene from Season 2, ahead of Season 3 release.

The previous seasons were centred on Zendaya's character Rue, who battled addiction, loss, and a search for belonging. Zendaya identified the "intervention" scene from Season 2, Episode 5, titled Stand Still Like the Hummingbird, as her most emotionally and physically demanding moment on the show, as reported by The Mirror.

The actor described the 15-minute opening sequence, where Rue's family confronts her relapse, as a "war zone." She sustained bruises and scars on her legs during physical struggles with her on-screen mother, Leslie (Nika King), and sister, Gia (Storm Reid). Zendaya revealed she had dreaded filming the scene for years, finding it difficult to deliver harsh lines to people she cares about in real life.

The scene was filmed largely in single takes with handheld cameras, requiring multiple exhausting attempts that left Zendaya feeling unwell and drained.

At the end of the second season, Rue showed signs of hope after a difficult period marked by withdrawal and fractured relationships. She reconciled with Lexi (Maude Apatow) after watching her theatrical performance and stated in her closing monologue that she remained sober for the rest of the school year. However, her relationship with Jules (Hunter Schafer) remained strained; she thanked Jules for saving her life but said no more.

The season comprises eight episodes released weekly and features a five-year time jump, following the characters as they navigate young adulthood. Zendaya (Rue), Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), and Jacob Elordi (Nate) reprise their roles, joined by actor Sharon Stone and singer Rosala as new additions to the cast. Some cast members, including Barbie Ferreira (Kat Hernandez) and Nika King (Leslie), do not return for this season.

In Season 3, Rue has become a drug courier, making hazardous trips across the Mexican border to settle debts with dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly).

In India, the premiere episode of Euphoria Season 3, titled New Beginnings, will be available on JioHotstar April 15.
