GST launch should be a moment of pride for all of us, says Nirmala Sitharaman

Hours before the mega midnight event at Parliament that the government has planned to roll out the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Centre has given a subtle hint to people to get ready to face some issues that the new tax regime will bring with it.

Speaking at India Today Midnight Conclave - Tryst with Tax Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State (IC) of Commerce and Industry ruled out there being any compliance nightmare vis-a-vis GST but admitted that there will be a few issues.

However, Sitharaman stressed that the government has made preparations to tackle issues in the initial days of GST launch.

"The finance minister has already said that there will be some anxiety in a few sectors over GST. We are ready to discuss each and every issue," Sitharaman said.
