Annamalai urges CBSE to roll back three-language policy for Class 9 students

BJP leader Annamalai has appealed to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to roll back its recently introduced three-language policy for Class 9 students. The new formula, which makes at least one Indian language compulsory, is expected to be implemented this academic year. The politician argued that introducing a new language midway would create undue pressure on students and urged the education board to delay the implementation until 2029. The policy has sparked political opposition in Tamil Nadu, with the state's Chief Minister stating that the region will continue to follow a two-language formula. The language mandate has also faced legal challenges, with petitions filed in the Supreme Court citing the excessive academic burden on children.
