Cyclone Yaas weakened into a severe cyclonic storm this afternoon after pounding the beach towns in north Odisha and neighbouring West Bengal with a wind speed of 130-145 kmph, inundating the low-lying areas amid a storm surge even as the two eastern states battled the COVID crisis.
Cyclone Yaas left a trail of destruction in Odisha’s Balasore and Bhadrak districts where the severe cyclonic storm made landfall on Wednesday morning and continued to wreak havoc for a few hours. Relief and restoration work started soon after the landfall even as the cyclonic storm blew over Odisha and adjoining states, including West Bengal.
So, in this episode, watch as India Today's reporters bring you the ground reports from the affected areas.
