Delhi Minister Atishi visited the river Yamuna at Loha Pul and the low-lying area of Yamuna Bazar to review the flood preparedness for the monsoon season.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the area, Atishi said the Delhi government is prepared to take any action in case of floods even on "short notice".
"Last year, Delhi had the highest water level in 40 years. This year, we have already started preparing for any flood situation that arises due to rain. Yamuna Bazar is the lowest-lying area in Delhi and was the first to get flooded last year," she told reporters.
"I came with all the officers of the Revenue Department and Irrigation and Flood Department to assess the situation. The Delhi government is absolutely prepared to take action in cases of flood even on short notice," she said.
Last year, several areas of Delhi, including Yamuna Bazar, got flooded as the Yamuna's level touched an all-time high of 207.49 metres due to rain and the release of water by neighbouring Haryana.
