Flood fury in Gujarat: At least 7 dead, hundreds shifted to safer places

Incessant rainfall and waterlogging have wreaked havoc at several places in Gujarat. At least 7 people have drowned in flood while two people died in two separate incidents of house collapse in Junagadh and Tapi district.

Normal life has been disrupted in many districts. Low-lying areas in cities like Surat, Junagarh, Bhut and Rajkot districts were flooded after several dams and lakes started overflowing. Close to 2000 people have been shifted to safer places as several places are inundated with rain water

The Saurashtra region is the worst affected. Many rivers are in spate. Meanwhile, the met department has predicted heavy rainfall in the coming days.
