Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma condemned the racist attack on three women from Arunachal Pradesh in Delhi's Malviya Nagar. The women, one preparing for UPSC civil services exam, were racially abused by neighbours on 20th February after debris from minor repair work fell during air conditioner installation. Sangma said, 'It's a very sad mindset. And it's definitely not the mindset that is going to take our nation forward. You know, it just sends the very wrong signal to the rest of the nation.' He emphasised that while not all people share such views, incidents involving a 'small section' of individuals send the wrong message about India's diversity. Sangma stressed the need for sensitisation and awareness, urging people from both Northeast and other parts of India to speak out against such incidents. He called for action as per law against perpetrators and highlighted that diversity is what makes India 'so great and amazing.' An FIR has been registered against the couple involved in the abuse.
