Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed the Lok Sabha on the Women's Reservation Bill, urged the opposition not to politicise the women's reservation bill and assured that the proposed legislation will not lead to any injustice or discrimination against any state. He also addressed concerns raised by the Opposition, particularly regarding the delimitation aspect and a potential North-South divide. The Prime Minister emphasised that the bill aims to grant women their rightful representation rather than doing them a favour, urging political parties not to politicise the issue or seek sole credit. Acknowledging the Opposition's private backing of the bill, the Government offered them full credit if desired, while humourously referencing protesting Members of Parliament wearing black as a traditional gesture to ward off the evil eye.
