Police crackdown after protests over Aarey, Section 144 imposed

The entire Aarey Colony was cordoned off by the Mumbai Police on Saturday morning after hundreds of green activists tried to stop the felling of trees in the area.

Section 144 CrPC (banning unlawful assembly) has been imposed in Aarey and surrounding areas after protests over cutting of trees. When Shiv Sena leader tried to join the protest, she was detained by police.
