Despite Opposition's appeal and farmers nationwide protests, President Ram Nath Kovind has approved both the passed bills related to farmers in the monsoon session of Parliament.
The Parliament had passed the contentious bills on September 20.
Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal on Saturday quit the NDA govt over the farm bills issue, the third major party to walk out of the BJP-led coalition in the last couple of years.
SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal announced the decision to snap ties with the NDA, amid stepped up agitation by farmers in Punjab over the three legislations which were recently passed by Parliament amid Opposition protests.
