Probe begins into Rashmika Mandanna deepfake case

The Delhi Police Special Cell on Friday filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding a deepfake AI-generated video featuring actor Rashmika Mandanna. Earlier this week, the video circulated widely on various social media platforms, depicting the actor in a black workout outfit inside an elevator. Originally shared by British-Indian influencer Zara Patel, the video was manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to morph Zara's face into Rashmika's.

A day after the Delhi Police registered a case in connection with the deepfake AI-generated video of actor Rashmika Mandanna, it approached the social media giant Meta to share the details of the URL of the account that generated the video on the platform.

The Delhi Police has also sought the details of the people who shared the video on social media.
