The focus is on actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra, who have approached the Bombay High Court to quash a Rs 60 crore cheating FIR being investigated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The couple’s plea, filed through advocate Prashanthi Patil, states that the criminal proceeding has been 'maliciously instituted with an ulterior and malafide motive wreaking vengeance on the petitioner and with a view to extort money'. A lookout circular issued by the police remains active against the couple, restricting their international travel. The case, lodged by a businessman, alleges that funds loaned for their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, were diverted for personal use. The plea was listed for hearing before a bench including Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam A. Ankad.
