Sunil Tatkare appointed Maharashtra NCP chief: Praful Patel

A day after Ajit Pawar took oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, rebel leader Praful Patel announced that Sunil Tatkare has been appointed as state party chief.

Addressing a press conference, Praful Patel said, "We had appointed Jayant Patil. We have given him the responsibility of Maharashtra president of NCP. Today, I have officially informed him of his removal from the post of state president. And I appoint Sunil Tatkare as Maharashtra state president for NCP."

Earlier in the day, NCP chief Sharad Pawar disqualified members of Lok Sabha, Sunil Tatkare and Praful Patel from his party for anti-party activities.
