Kanwar Yatra: Uttarakhand cancels, UP allows with curbs

Amid concerns regarding a possible third wave of Covid-19, the Uttarakhand government has called off the Kanwar Yatra. However, neighbouring Uttar Pradesh is pressing ahead with the annual ritual that sees a heavy movement of pilgrims across states lines. The yatra will be held from July 25 to August 6, and the UP administration has already begun preparations while putting certain Covid protocols and restrictions in place.

Meanwhile, Haryana is yet to take a decision on whether or not to allow the Kanwar Yatra.
