Watch: Devotees throng temples on Day 1 of Navratri across India

As Durga Puja celebrations began today, devotees across India thronged the temples on Day 1 of the nine-day festivities.

The first day is devoted to Maa Shailputri, known as the daughter of the Himalayas and a symbol of strength and purity. This marks the start of Navratri – the nine-day festival dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine forms.
