IPL 2026 match: Traffic curbs, diversions issued in Central Delhi

In view of the day-night IPL match scheduled from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM on April 8, heavy traffic movement is expected in and around the stadium area. Authorities have put adequate arrangements in place to manage congestion and ensure public safety.

Traffic diversions or restrictions may be imposed on key stretches including Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, depending on traffic conditions.

RESTRICTIONS ON HEAVY VEHICLES

No heavy or commercial vehicles will be allowed on certain routes during the advisory period. These include:

  • Daryaganj to Delhi Gate Chowk (BSZ Marg)

  • Delhi Gate Chowk to Guru Nanak Chowk (JLN Marg)

  • ITO to Delhi Gate Chowk (BSZ Marg)

ROADS COMMUTERS SHOULD AVOID

Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid the following stretches to prevent delays:

  • JLN Marg (Rajghat to Delhi Gate, both carriageways)

  • Asaf Ali Road (Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate)

  • Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg (Delhi Gate to ITO, both sides)

ENTRY POINTS FOR STADIUM VISITORS

Spectators heading to the stadium are advised to follow designated entry routes:

  • Gate 1–8 (South Side): Entry via BSZ Marg

  • Gate 10–15 (East Side): Entry via JLN Marg (near Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal)

  • Gate 16–18 (West Side): Entry via BSZ Marg (near petrol pump)

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS AND RULES

Free parking will be available at Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road, and Velodrome Road, along with park-and-ride facilities.

No parking will be allowed near the stadium except for vehicles with valid labels. All parking labels must display vehicle and driver details.

Designated parking spots for labeled vehicles include:

  • P-1: JP Park (Gate No. 3)

  • P-2: Vikram Nagar (near Shahidi Park)

  • P-3: Near JJB/Prayas Office (for two-wheelers)

  • P-4: Between Gate No. 7 and 8

No parking will be permitted on BSZ Marg, JLN Marg, and Ring Road (Rajghat to IP Flyover). Illegally parked vehicles will be towed and prosecuted.

PARK AND RIDE FACILITY AVAILABLE

Park-and-ride services will operate from multiple locations, including Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road, Velodrome Road, and Shanti Van Parking.

Bus services will begin two hours before the match and continue until one hour after it ends, offering convenience to spectators.

APP-BASED TAXI PICK-UP AND DROP POINTS

Designated pick-up and drop-off points for app-based taxis include:

  • Gate No. 2, Maulana Azad Medical College (BSZ Marg)

  • Rajghat Chowk

  • Service lane on Ring Road (between IP Flyover and Rajghat)

Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use public transport where possible, and avoid congested routes around the stadium during match hours to ensure a smooth travel experience.
