Over 81,000 police posts to be filled in Uttar Pradesh this year
Uttar Pradesh has planned a massive police recruitment drive for over 81,000 posts. The Chief Minister also outlined reforms to improve transparency, technology use, and public safety systems.

The financial year 2026–27 is set to be a defining period for young aspirants aiming to join the Uttar Pradesh Police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that more than 81,000 posts will be filled within a single year, marking one of the largest recruitment drives in the state’s police force.
He said the initiative would not only create employment opportunities but also help build a modern, efficient, and dynamic policing system.
The announcement came during a late-night review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, where he assessed ongoing activities and future plans across multiple police units.
He stressed that strengthening law and order requires a balanced focus on modern technology, transparent workflows, and capable human resources. He also called for a result-oriented work culture with accountability at every level to ensure citizens feel secure and confident.
TRANSPARENT AND TIME-BOUND RECRUITMENT
Officials informed that recruitment will cover various roles, including
Sub-Inspectors,
Civil Police Constables,
Radio Assistant Operators,
Computer Operators (Grade-A), and
Police Sub-Inspectors (Confidential)
While some processes have already begun, the Chief Minister directed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to ensure all selections are conducted within a fixed timeline.
He emphasised strict adherence to merit and reservation norms, along with complete transparency and fairness. He also instructed that the recruitment process be technology-driven to boost efficiency and strengthen trust among the youth.
FASTER RESPONSE, SMARTER PATROLLING
Reviewing the PRV-112 service, the Chief Minister highlighted the need to further reduce the current average response time of around six minutes.
He directed officials to identify strategic locations for Police Response Vehicles and ensure their continuous movement.
He also called for better use of technology, data-driven patrolling, and improved field coordination. Instructions were issued to revise patrol routes every 15 days under a hotspot-based system, while ensuring the availability of adequate vehicles, including both four-wheelers and two-wheelers.
ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES AND FIRE SAFETY
The Chief Minister ordered the transfer of personnel who have been posted for long durations in key locations in Lucknow, including Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence, and the Police Headquarters.
This, he said, would improve transparency and bring fresh energy into the system.
During the review of Fire and Emergency Services, it was noted that around 42,000 fire incidents were controlled in 2025–26, along with over 10,000 emergency responses, saving property worth nearly Rs 800 crore.
The Chief Minister directed that every district must have at least one hydraulic fire tender and pushed for the goal of ‘One Tehsil, One Fire Tender’ to be achieved quickly.
CYBERSECURITY AND DIGITAL PUSH
The Cyber Crime Headquarters reported that Rs 425.7 crore was secured through timely technical interventions in the past year. A total of 314,077 device-related actions were carried out, including 114,220 IMEI blockings.
Out of 391,340 complaints received, 240,015 were registered, and legal action was initiated in 7,287 cases.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to expand awareness campaigns to prevent cyber fraud. Additionally, an e-office system has been implemented in the Police Radio Wing, with instructions to strengthen digital infrastructure across all 75 districts.
COMMUNITY SAFETY AND RAIL SECURITY
Civil Defence units have now been established in all districts, with around 7,500 volunteers recruited. The Chief Minister emphasised strengthening this network through public participation.
The Government Railway Police also reported progress in crime control and passenger safety. Under ‘Operation Muskan,’ 2,325 children were reunited with their families.
The Chief Minister directed officials to prioritise passenger safety and enhance technological surveillance further.
