Days after emerging as the single largest party, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar staked claim to form a government in the state. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to happen in Chennai's Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, and according to sources, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is also going to attend the ceremony. This after Congress decided to support TVK. But despite Congress' support, TVK is still short of the majority mark of 118. Separately, in Pune, police arrested a 65-year-old repeat offender for the sexual assault and murder of a four-year-old girl in Nasrapur. The victim's body was discovered in a cattle shed, sparking massive public protests and highway blockades. A Special Investigation Team led by a senior woman officer is investigating the crime, which has drawn widespread condemnation and demands for fast-track justice.
