Ravi Bishnoi produced a match-winning spell to script a remarkable comeback for Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans, picking up four wickets and turning the game on its head. After a difficult couple of seasons, the young leg-spinner credited his resurgence to working on all aspects of his game.

Bishnoi’s performance came at a crucial moment, with Gujarat cruising in their chase of 211 before his double strike derailed the innings. Speaking after the match, he reflected on the tough phase he endured and the adjustments he made to bounce back.

“Last season was difficult,” Bishnoi said during the post-match presentation. “But I tried to stick to my processes. I had one weakness, if my length was wrong then I was getting hit for fours and sixes. That's what I was trying. I played a whole season of domestics and worked on perfecting my lengths. Hitting my lengths made it difficult for batters, when I was too full I got hit today too.”

“Mental, technical and physical... all three. I've been putting the physical work too, in off-season, between games and in domestic.”

Bishnu played a key role with the ball as Royals eventually held their nerve to defend 210 against a strong GT batting unit, with Tushar Deshpande executing his plans at the death to seal a narrow win. The result marked Rajasthan’s second straight victory, pushing them to the top of the table early in the season.

HOW RAVI BISHNOI PERFORMED IN GT vs RR?

Bishnoi’s impact came in a defining phase of the match. Introduced when Gujarat looked comfortable, he struck twice in quick succession and returned later to complete a four-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 4 for 41.

His dismissal of Sai Sudharsan, who was anchoring the chase with a fluent 73, proved to be the turning point. By varying his lengths and maintaining control, Bishnoi forced Gujarat’s batters into mistakes, halting their momentum at a crucial stage.

His spell ensured that Rajasthan stayed in the contest, setting up the platform for a tense finish that they eventually managed to close out.

WHAT WENT WRONG WITH BISHNOI AT LSG?

Bishnoi’s resurgence comes after a noticeable dip during his time with Lucknow Super Giants. While he had been a consistent performer earlier, including a 16-wicket season in 2023, his form dipped over the next two years.

In IPL 2024, he managed just 10 wickets in 14 matches, while 2025 proved even more challenging, with only nine wickets in 11 games at an average of 44.55 and an economy rate of 10.83, his toughest season in the league.

Across his stint with LSG, Bishnoi picked up 48 wickets in 53 innings, but the rising economy rates and inconsistency led to his release ahead of the 2026 auction, where Rajasthan secured him for Rs 7.20 crore.
