The duel between Virat Kohli and Kagiso Rabada was one to remember as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans clashed on Thursday, April 30, in their IPL 2026 encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Kohli initially had the upper hand, taking Rabada to the cleaners before the South African pacer returned strongly to have the final say. Kohli finished with 28 runs off 13 balls, including five fours and a six, and looked well set for a rapid fifty. Interestingly, all of Kohli’s five fours came in the same over.

In Rabada’s first over, Kohli produced a breathtaking assault, striking five consecutive boundaries. It began with a crisp pull over mid-wicket, followed by a lofted drive over wide mid-off. He then cut one late through deep point, carved another past square third man, and ended the sequence with a fluent cover drive.

Just when Kohli seemed set to continue the charge, Rabada tightened his length and allowed only a single off the final ball. The pacer, however, had a rough start, conceding 21 runs in his opening over before bouncing back later in the contest.

KAGISO RABADA HITS BACK

Rabada got his revenge in style after being taken apart earlier by Kohli. He began his second over with a wide and then a probing good-length delivery that Kohli defended awkwardly.

Thereafter, Rabada fired in a short, quick ball at middle and leg, rushing Kohli as he advanced down the pitch. Losing shape and timing, Kohli miscued a cross-batted stroke, and the top edge went straight to Rashid Khan at mid-wicket. Rabada roared in celebration.

Kohli has been in sensational form in IPL 2026, currently the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament. In nine matches, he has amassed 379 runs at an impressive average of 54.14 and a strike rate of 165.50. His highest score this season is 81, which came against Gujarat Titans earlier this month in Bengaluru.

Rabada has also been in excellent form for the Titans in IPL 2026, emerging as their leading wicket-taker. The South African speedster has picked up three three-wicket hauls this season, underlining his impact in key moments.
