Mumbai Indians bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said that captain Hardik Pandya will be available for the clash against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Tuesday, April 7. Hardik missed the loss to Delhi at the Arun Jaitley stadium as he was unwell for the clash with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side.

Ahead of the game against RR, the MI captain was shown back in the nets as he was seen bowling and batting with high intensity. This was seen as a positive sign for the MI fans and Mhambrey confirmed that the Indian all-rounder is fit and fine.

"To answer your first question, he will be available. We had a good couple of hours of net session yesterday, so he is fit and fine," said Mhambrey.

Speaking about how MI can work without Hardik, Mhambrey backed the strength of the squad to perform well in different conditions even without their skipper.

"I think that's something that you will have to take. Injuries are something that you can't control, but I think we got the team we got enough guys out there to make the mix and match and looking at the surface combinations, but yeah, I think we got enough guys to look around kind of," said Mhambrey.

WHY DID BOSCH COME IN FOR BOULT?

MI brought in Corbin Bosch for Trent Boult for the clash against DC. When asked if it was a move due to Hardik's unavailability, Mhambrey confirmed that it was the case as they needed to fill the void left by the Indian star.

"Yeah I think it's just a combination, obviously Hardik gives you that option of a bat and ball all-rounder right."

"So since he wasnt available we needed a kind of replacement who could fill in that role for us so its purely a tactical decision that we went with him," said Mhambrey.

The MI skipper has scored 506 runs in 16 games against RR with an average of 72.29 and a strike-rate of 173.29. He has picked 12 wickets during this time.
