The global memory card shortage has reached a critical tipping point. With AI server farms consuming the lion's share of chip production, other electronics producers are facing a severe supply crunch. The impact is visible across the board: Apple recently discontinued its most affordable Mac Mini configurations, and Samsung, as well as other smartphone makers, have led a wave of price hikes across the smartphone industry. And now, even Google is reportedly feeling the pressure, with leaks indicating the upcoming Pixel 11 may feature a reduced RAM capacity compared to last year's models.

Google Pixel 11 series RAM downgrade

According to details shared by tipster MysticLeaks on Telegram, Android Headlines reports the standard Pixel 11 could start with just 8GB of RAM, compared to 12GB on its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Pixel 11 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold are tipped to introduce a new 12GB base variant, down from the existing 16GB configurations. While 16GB options are still expected to be available, the addition of lower-tier variants could result in higher pricing for the top-end models.

On the hardware front, the Pixel 11 series is expected to be powered by the new Tensor G6 chipset, reportedly built on TSMC’s advanced N2 process. The chip is said to feature a combination of ARM cores, including a high-performance core clocked at over 4GHz, along with a PowerVR GPU and a MediaTek modem. The base Pixel 11, codenamed “Cubs,” is tipped to sport a 6.3-inch OLED FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 2,200 nits, along with a battery rated at a minimum capacity of 4,840mAh.

For the Pro lineup, the Pixel 11 Pro is expected to retain a 6.3-inch QHD+ OLED display, while the Pro XL may feature a larger 6.8-inch panel, both offering 120Hz refresh rates and peak brightness of up to 2,450 nits. Battery capacities are tipped at minimum 4,707mAh for the Pro and 5,000mAh for the Pro XL.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold, on the other hand, is said to include a 10802342 OLED outer display and a 20762160 OLED inner screen, both with 120Hz refresh rates, and a minimum battery capacity of 4,658mAh.

Despite the potential RAM downgrade, the leak points to improvements in other areas. The Pro models are expected to receive upgraded main and telephoto cameras, along with brighter displays. Additionally, Google may remove the temperature sensor seen in previous models and replace it with an RGB LED array integrated into the camera bar.

While these details paint an early picture of the Pixel 11 series, none of the specifications has been officially confirmed. So we suggest you take this information with a pinch of salt.
