HMD has launched its latest budget smartphone in India, the Vibe 2 5G. The device succeeds the original HMD Vibe that was launched last year, and comes with some notable additions, including the Sarvam Indus AI app pre-installed app.

The Vibe 2 is a 5G device that targets the affordable smartphone segment, and gets a funky look. Here are all the details.

HMD Vibe 2 5G design

The HMD Vibe 2 5G comes with a split look on the rear. The camera module extends to the entire width of the phone, something that may remind you of a certain Pro device. There are two circular camera cutouts on the module.

Below, you get a large rectangular segment that comes with a sparkle-like finish. The Vibe 2 comes in three colours – Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue and Peach Pink. The frame is flat, and also packs a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Vibe 2 comes with a plastic backplate and frame, which is expected in the budget segment. Though, you do get a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Vibe 2 comes with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

HMD Vibe 2 5G gets Sarvam AI, Sanchar Saathi

A notable addition to the Vibe 2 is that of the Sarvam Indus app that comes pre-installed on the phone. The company says that you can talk to the AI in 22 different languages.

During the HMD Vibe 2 5G launch, Sarvam AI confirmed that the Sarvam Indus app runs the Sarvam-105B model that was unveiled earlier this year. The AI startup says that all data related to the app will be stored in India.

Apart from the Sarvam Indus app, the Vibe 2 also comes with Sanchar Saathi – an app that was at the centre of controversy late last year. Though HMD has clarified that users will get the option to not install the Sanchar Saathi app on the device when they first set up the device.

The Vibe 2 features a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with a 720x1600-pixel resolution. The refresh rate is 120Hz.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Unisoc T8200 5G processor, which is built on a 6nm process. This is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of storage.

On the optics front, the HMD Vibe 2 5G packs a 50-megapixel rear camera, paired with an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Vibe 2 comes with a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. You get an 18W charger in the box with the device. The HMD Vibe 2 5G runs Android 16 out of the box and supports two years of quarterly security updates.

The HMD Vibe 2 goes on sale on Flipkart and the company’s official website on May 26 at 12 pm. The device starts at Rs 10,999 for the base 4GB/64GB model. The 4GB/128GB variant will cost you Rs 11,999.

However, on the day of the launch, you can avail offers worth Rs 1,500 on the Vibe 2 5G. HMD is also offering a free one-time screen replacement for six months.
